Gadsden Museum of Art—Patterns in Time
Patterns in Time: becoming… being.. disappearing. was installed in the Gadsden Museum of Art from November 1st, 2024 to January 3rd, 2025. The Philosopher’s Wall: A Perspective Prism, burst from the center of the front gallery inviting the viewer to be absorbed into the patterns of Potter and Akers’ dissection of time. The installation cycles between the Actual and Virtual.
Large relief works, prints, and artist books FOG and ASH, along with select works from Patterns of Place join the Philosopher’s Wall to engage the movement and mysterious nature of time, exploring the spaces between. In that slip, we experience the similarities and differences between the known and unknown, surface and depth.
artXarchitecture has worked on Patterns in Time since February 2018, using various mediums and architectural practices to engineer a complex and delicate frame of time in all of its fibrous connections. This installation creates a map from the lines of stories that connect collaborations here, before, and after–with and through time. This map invites you to take a leap and wander through the patterns that may become, be, and disappear.
